Superb Art Nouveau/Jugendstil porcelain plate from Meissen (Germany, early 20th century) decorated with the famous “Peitschenhieb" motif ('Whiplash' pattern) designed by Henry Van De Velde in 1903/1904. Diameter: 22.9 cm/9'', height: 2.5 cm/1''.
Marked underneath with the underglaze blue crossed swords (first choice). Impressed Van de Velde’s mark, ’71.’ in underglaze blue and ‘2R’ (embossed). Excellent original condition. This piece has an attribution mark,
