Vienna Woven Bronze Basket Box with Cold-Painted Rabbit, Attributed to Franz Bergman School, Austria, Circa 1890
Presenting an exceptional Vienna woven bronze basket box with a cold-painted rabbit figure, although this work is unmarked, it's attributed to the Franz Bergman School, Austria, circa 1890. This rare and whimsical work stands 6.5 inches high with a 3.5-inch diameter and features a hinged lid for practical functionality.
The standout feature is the fashionably dressed rabbit, perched atop the basket, holding a delicate bouquet of flowers. The rabbit is adorned with cold-painted details in rich, naturalistic tones, reflecting the fine craftsmanship and whimsical subject matter that are hallmarks of the Franz Bergman School. The woven bronze basket itself displays intricate detailing, simulating the texture of finely braided metalwork, supported by ornate feet that provide elegance and stability.
This delightful decorative box represents the finest in Vienna bronze craftsmanship, making it an ideal addition for collectors of Austrian bronzes, 19th-century decorative arts, or whimsical animal figurines. Perfect for display on a desk, vanity, or within a cabinet of curiosities, this piece offers both historical significance and aesthetic charm.
