This Really is an Exceptionally Nice Looking Authentic Antique American Ships Navigation Light - Lantern. Circa Early 1900s. The Back … Read more This Really is an Exceptionally Nice Looking Authentic Antique American Ships Navigation Light - Lantern. Circa Early 1900s. The Back of the Lamp has a Bracket and Would have Most Likely been Mounted on the Front of the Wheelhouse - Pilot House. It also has a Hinged Carry Handle on the Top for Transport Etc. The Front of the Lamp has 3 Different Color Thick Convex Molded Glass Lenses - Red - Blue & Clear ( Note the Red Lens has a "Bulls Eye" Feature ). These Lamps were Mostly Intended for Dark - Night Time Use so to Alert Other Passing Vessels as to the Direction of Travel. The Red Light Indicates the "Port" or Left Side. The Typically Green or in This Case Blue Light Indicates the "Starboard" of Left Side. This Lamp Also has the Added Feature of a Clear Center Lens that was Used For All Around Lighting, Stern - Masthead ( Front Deck ) Masthead Etc.

It is Completely Hand Made Out of Solid Brass. The Lamp itself has No Maker Mark but the Original Internal Kerosene Oil Burner is Embossed on the Wick Assembly - Flame Adjusting Wheel with the Well Documented American Makers Name - E. MILLER & CO. MADE IN USA. It is Also Embossed "SIMPLEX".

It is in Very Good all Original Condition. It is Tarnished and has Some Minor Age and Use Related Light Wear - Few Small Dents Here and There Etc. It Displays Very Nicely Like it is - Has a Wonderful Authentic Old Look - Or it Could be Cleaned & Polished if So Desired. The Wick Adjustment Mechanism is in Working Order so I Have Every Reason to Believe that if it was Filled with Kerosene Oil it Would be Functional. I Would Suggest However that the Very Old and Used Braided Cloth Wick Should Replaced with a New One. These Wicks can be Easily Purchased Online - This One Being Approx 5/8 Inch Wide. NOTE - That the Oil Reservoir Tank is Completely Empty At This Time - Has No Oder or Residue.

NOTE That I Used a Flashlight to Illuminate the Lenses but the Lighting Effect Would Most Likely be Somewhat Different with a Actual Burning Flame.
