This stunning mid-century modern writing desk was designed by Lawrence Peabody for Richardson/Nemschoff for their contemporary furniture line by Richardson Bros. Co. Well crafted with beautiful walnut grain throughout, the desk features a sculptural wraparound gallery top, a black laminate writing surface, and a unique drawer front with a recessed pull. The rear and sides are fully finished, allowing for placement anywhere in a room.
This desk measures 36.25” wide, 26.5” deep and 34" tall overall, 29" to the top of the work surface, and with a knee height of 23.5" tall.
This desk is in good vintage condition, with age appropriate wear throughout. There are a few minor veneer hits as shown in the closeups, and an area on the right top of the gallery rail that has a slight texture when running your hand over it. The desk was in use since new in the 1960's in the office of a Boston area Catholic school, so it saw regular use but was well cared for. Please see all of the photographs and closeups for the exact condition.
