The chairs feature amazing … Read more Here is an absolutely stunning pair of armchairs in the Anglo-Indian style, from the early 1900's. The chairs feature amazing lion heads on the front of each armrest! As you can see, they have their mouths open with teeth exposed, which feels like they are protecting the person in the chair. The shape of the chair is like/inpsired by the Klismos, with a rounded back and splayed legs in the front. The base is entirely clad in silver metal that is embossed in floral and leafy patterns. It has a verdigris patina and age that is quite remarkable and beautiful. The seat textile was in a bad state so I had them recovered in a lovely and versatile, modern white velvet chenille. The seats are inset into the chair base, but they can be lifted off easily. The padded seat cushions add a bit of comfort, but they are not necessary - they have also been recovered and are new.
