This gorgeous desk or bureau plat features gorgeous hand-painted raise Chinoiserie scenes of Chinese rickshaws and daily life in a small town. The colors of the paint-decorated scenes are rather unique as we see blue included which is rarely used in Chinoiserie decoration. The patina and condition of the desk is very nice, and the mirrored top has some silver loss under the surface that adds charm and character to the desk that a new mirror would never have. There is a minor fingernail size chip to the front edge of the mirror. If requested we can replace the mirror. The desk is surrounded in brass trim and has solid bronze ormolu feet. The desk dates to the 1920's and is french.
