English refinement, sophistication, and Victorian elegance at its finest, handmade at the turn of the late 19th / early 20th century, this one-of-a-kind object of vertu comprised of a 19th century hand carved ivory figural parasol handle, the exquisite carving rather diminutive in size adding to its delicate elegance, depicting a greyhound whippet dog head, retaining the original inset glass eyes; affixed to a contrasting banded collar on an exotic malacca wood shaft that was shortened and adapted from an early parasol or possibly walking stick cane; mounted with a circular metal framed magnifying glass lens.

A superb example of both functional art and folk art, this unique piece makes for a useful desk accessory or table article, reading magnifier, desktop accent, period decor, interesting curiosity, decorative sculptural object, or thoughtful gift idea!
