C.1940's: French Cartier, Sterling Silver and Leather, "Buckled Belt, " Motif Deigned lidded keepsake box, for her or for him, … Read more C.1940's: French Cartier, Sterling Silver and Leather, "Buckled Belt, " Motif Deigned lidded keepsake box, for her or for him, there is no distinction, but inclusive of all. A wonderful and whimsical, high-style designed vintage piece by Cartier, with interior, divided sections made of cedar wood and lined, de rigueur, aka popular for and of the period, when cedar wood was utilized for the interior, or velvet lined pieces, depending upon what the piece's intended manufactured use, was made for. Engraved on the underside, "Cartier, Sterling, and an item or Production sequence number of 6006. We took the liberty to polish it slightly but retain some of the wear and patina, for the sake of nostalgia and denoting the age pf the piece. Also these were made exactly like this for cigarette case covers, cigarette and lighter holders, etc. No pitting to sterling, some patina to interior lid area, saw well as scratches to the underside, a given IF one didn't use any for of protective pads, otherwise, normal wear, but an important and distinctive piece of Cartier of the Era. A wonderful gift for her or him, As Mother's Day and father's Day is approaching, but also a perfect Wedding gift, personalize it, etc. But we were giddy with surprise when we came across this gorgeous piece.
