This line is known for their brass accented and vertical drawer pulls and sculpted tapered legs. This is an incredible opportunity to own a very rare and sought after piece of mid-century modern furniture. This isn't your average mass produced mid-century piece of furniture, this is an upscale piece from the modernist period that was a real direct competitor with manufacturers like Eames.

With long, svelte legs, and dovetailed jointing, this vintage walnut console table was manufactured in Waynesboro, Va. by Basic Witz as part of their Basicanna line of furniture in 1961. Beautiful walnut body with Formica top, the drawer runs the length of the table, and features a sculpted wood pull made to look like two and embellished with brass trim. The lack of visible hardware lends to the minimal appearance and appeal. Inside the drawer is the Basic Witz mark.

This table is in wonderful condition with minimal wear consistent with age. The versatility of this table was highlighted by Basic Witz, often displayed in a variety of ways including as a desk and a beverage station or sideboard table.

I've always loved Basic Witz's minimalist and clean designs, paired with their attention to fine craftmanship which is apparent in the beautiful dovetail joints. Sometimes you will find the end table version of this design on the market, but I have yet to see the console table (or desk) in person, much less available until now.
