The artist carver … Read more The tall elegant carving is one of the finest piece of Chinese soapstone carving in my experience. The artist carver chose a multi color stone and was clever to carve the chrysanthemum flowers on the rust red and craggy rock in beige tan. The vase is atop the rocks which were done in a verticulated carving, giving the object an airy quality. Soapstone is soft and it is a good medium for carving, elaborate designs can be executed, much easier than carving jade. However, it is also prone to chipping. This piece, however, has remained mostly intact through the years.

Dating: after 1950's
Dimensions: 12 inches ( 30.5 cm) Width: 7 inches (8cm)
Condition: No visible chips. There are hairlines. please check photos. though nothing major that will affect the object See less
