Offered is a divine hand carved Teak wood centerpiece bowl with the female goddess Bugan as the base. These are traditional to the Ifugao tribe of Luzon, Philippines and are used as offering and ceremonial pieces. In Ifugao mythology, Bugan is a prominent female deity associated with agriculture, fertility, and the bounty of the earth, often seen as a nurturer and protector of family and communities. Bugan is a key figure in Ifugao mythology, deemed the wife of Lumawig, the supreme deity, and is considered a nurturer and protector of family and communities. This bowl was likely used for healing rituals. Intricate detail and exquisite. The figure is very life-like and all carved from a single piece of wood. A hole can be drilled for a string to facilitate hanging it. And while there is serious artisan craftwork and tribal spirituality inherent in this piece, it is very fun to behold, and can be used and enjoyed as well as displayed.
Bowl is slightly elongated, 16" wide, 16.5" long, 7.75" tall (including legs)
Woman/Legs measure 11" toe to head, 6" wide at knees, 2.75" height
The Ifugao are a mountain tribe who have been cultivating rice in terraced rice paddies for 2,000 years, They believe that the gods reside in the rice, and they hold ceremonies to pray and celebrate the harvest.

It is steady on the woman/legs, and the crack shows no signs of spreading further as the wood is thick. There are minor scuffs at the knees/elbows which serve as legs.
