Our Edouard Gilles vases showcase the artist’s mastery of barbotine decoration, a technique in which liquid clay (slip) was applied to create raised, enameled designs. Gilles was known for his painterly approach, incorporating delicate floral motifs in vibrant, contrasting hues - surely influenced by the Impressionist movement of the era.
Each vase features bold pink chrysanthemums with lush green foliage, their delicate petals and leaves outlined in fine, contrasting borders. A striking band of floral patterns, set against a granular textured ground, gracefully wraps each vase, adding visual contrast.
The vases are mounted on brass floral bases, while the upper rims have delicate lattice-like trim and decorative handles.
