This Antique Pairpoint Viscaria Box dates to the 1890s and features the masterful craftsmanship of the American Brilliant Period.

Cut from heavy, high-quality lead crystal, this large rectangular box showcases the Viscaria pattern—distinguished by deeply cut arches, diamond points, and floral sprays—with a striking etched floral motif adorning the lid. The lid features finely engraved flowers in bloom, rendered in frosted relief that contrasts beautifully with the sharp brilliance of the rest of the cut glass. The sides are richly detailed with alternating arched panels and hobstar-like textures, cut into the base is a radiant starburst pattern, refracting light from below to illuminate the entire box.

The box is framed in silver-plated mounts with a smooth, polished rim and a domed hinged lid, offering both functionality and refined ornamentation. Likely a glove box originally. See less
