Circa late 19th Century. … Read more This Really is a Great Looking and Unusually Small Set of Authentic Antique American Snow Sleigh. Circa late 19th Century. The Small Size & Scale Indicates that it was Made For a Child's Sleigh. During the Victorian Era These Small Sleighs were Quite Novel and Usually Given to Children by Affluent Parents - Families. NOTe That They were Known to be Used - Pulled by Goats, Ponies and Even Large Dogs.
It is Completely Made Out of Nickel Plated Solid Cast Brass or Possibly Even Bronze ( Non Magnetic Metal ). They were Sometimes Mounted on Sleigh Itself or Sometimes Mounted on the Animals Harness Assembly - Saddle Etc. It Been Mounted on Nicely Custom Made - Nicely Varnished Solid Pine Display Base that Would Have Been Made at a Later Date for Display Purposes. It has Multiple Multiple Dangling Ringers that Give it that Loud -& Wonderful Classic Sleigh Bell Sound. These Type of Bells were used to Announce - Let People Hear You While Traveling - In Motion so as to Prevent Possible Accident Situations. It is in Excellent All Original Condition - Displays Greatly. It is Complete with No Missing or Replacement Parts. The Nickel Plated Surfaces are Lightly Aged - Tarnished.
