Lovely pair of 19thC, red brick-hued transferware bowls; the center medallion is of a moated castle surrounded by a rim of English Oak leaves and acorns in the ACORA pattern. Mark en verso is of the prestigious Copeland / Spode pottery works of Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire England and consists of an incised "Copeland" encircling a crown. Our research indicates that this mark was utilized from 1847 to around 1890; the date code of "S 82" narrows fabrication dates to September, 1882.
Dimensions: 8.6"Dia. x 1.5"H.
Very good condition for pieces that are more than 140 years old. Vibrant coloration, no cracks, no crazing, 1 rim chip at the 2 o''clock position.
