A Very Nice Antique English Chippendale Carved Mahogany Side chair, circa 1780's
Probably made in England, 1760-1780's
Nice pierce cut back splat, with a shaped crest rail, and winged ears. The cabriole legs have carved knees, and carved spirals on the corner knee blocks. The legs end in a distinctly formed and carved ball and claw foot. The back swept talon is very indicative of English 18th century cabinet work. The slip seat frame is most likely made from beechwood. We are not sure if its the original seat frame.
Size: 20 1/2" wide, 19" deep, 38 1/4" tall. 18" seat height.
Condition: refinished, replaced front seat braces inside the chair seat frame. lots of patina, use and wear marks are consistent with age, and use. some light staining to the upholstered seat covering.
