Crafted in France circa 1850, each chair features a gracefully shaped frame with a tall arched backrest, curved open arms, and a generously padded seat.

The mahogany frames display a rich reddish-brown patina, beautifully contrasted by finely cast gilt bronze ormolu embellishments. Each backrest is crowned with a decorative bronze shell cartouche surrounded by scrolling foliage, while delicate bronze trim follows the curved contours. The open armrests feature padded leather supports, scrolled handholds, and bronze acanthus leaf mounts. The shaped seat apron is further embellished with a central gilt bronze foliate motif.

The chairs stand on graceful cabriole legs decorated with bronze leaf mounts at the knees and terminating in ornate gilt bronze claw feet. The original black leather upholstery covers the seats, backs, and armrests, displaying natural craquelure and a rich aged patina.

The antique armchairs are in good condition commensurate with age and use. The leather shows surface wear, cracking, and some peeling, particularly on the armrests and seats, with no tears in the underlying fabric. See detailed photographs.
