An early 19th century French Louis Philippe mahogany desk with bookmatched flame mahogany veneer and solid mahogany turned legs. This desk has a locking mechanism in working condition with one key. The curved slant front releases forward and hinges down revealing the original leather writing surface with gold embossed border. When the the desk is closed, the drawers all lock. There are six dovetailed drawers: four on the top and two larger below, each with small turned knobs. Finished an all sides, so that it may be used in the middle of a room. Beautifully crafted with good proportions and finish retaining a nice luster. Great overall condition for its age, with only two small pieces of trim missing on the right side. Circa 1820-1830.
