This heavily carved bench was purchased over 40 years ago and has served as an accent piece in our home … Read more This heavily carved bench was purchased over 40 years ago and has served as an accent piece in our home through multiple moves. Being a taller, more gracefully built piece, it was primarily used as an end/accent table but is sturdy enough to support an average weight individual. Almost all exposed surfaces are carved in an angular Moorish design that was popular in the 1910's and 20's. Positioned in front of a window or under a light, the carved surfaces and wood grain beneath come alive with movement. I do not know what wood was used in it's construction, but it is hard, but relatively light in weight, and resists scratching and wear. The table has served us well with no issues for many years, but our needs have changed. The design of the bench would mix well with many of today's foremost decorative styles. See less
