This Really is a Great Looking and Quite Unusual Antique Handled Storage and Transport Chest. Circa Late 19th Century. Note … Read more This Really is a Great Looking and Quite Unusual Antique Handled Storage and Transport Chest. Circa Late 19th Century. Note that was Actually Made Out of a Repurposed New Zealand Dairy Butter Shipping Crate but it was Most Likely Used After Converted Here in the USA. The Exterior still Retains the Original Painted Features that were Applied when it was Created. My Guess is that it was Intended to Contain Items that were to be Used by the "CHILDREN'S CHURCH" - ( Sunday School ? ). Based on the Fitted - Divided & Segmented Interior I Believe that was Used to Transport Milk Bottles & Food, Plates & Bowls, Utensils & Cutlery, Linens Etc. It has the Added Features of Early Style Hand Wrought Iron "Strap" Hinges as Well as a Completely Hand Made Locking Mechanism and Hasp. The Sides are Mounted with Cast Iron Swing Style Carry Handles. The Painted Features Have Developed a Wonderfully Authentic Age and Use Related Patina & Color - Displays Beautifully!. It is in Strong - Sound - Perfectly Usable Condition for Whatever Purpose that You Have In Mind. PLEASE NOTE That it Comes With NO KEY and that the Back Side of Lock Hasp is Missing the Small Piece - Broken Off so For These Reasons it is Not Functional. Please Do However Also Note that This is Not at all Noticeable as Displayed.
It Measures Overall Approx. 12 inches Tall x 16 inches Long x 11 1/4 inches Wide.
