The North Wind face, often associated with the Greek god Aeolus, was a popular motif during the Victorian era, around 1890. The Michigan Chair Company, based in Grand Rapids, produced chairs featuring the distinctive "North Wind" face carvings. These chairs, crafted in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, are notable for their intricate designs. This oak slipper chair has been finished with a cherry wood stain and a high gloss lacquer, giving a modern touch to a medieval style. Turned wood bobbin detail on front square stretcher bar. Plain cabriole legs.
