This style of very flat snuff bottles was popular in the 19th century and earlier. It is my deduction that they are not popular today might be the fact that the thin body might be hard to hollow out. The bottle is very pretty with the white wave like bands that run across the round body. Below and under are undulating bands of beige, grey, mauve accentuating the whiteness of the lines. The round body ends on a flat oval foot. The slender neck has a concave top which is a good sign of age. The bottle is almost three quarters hollowed out. It is matched with a carnelian stopper on a black collar. The bottle is very pretty and it feels good in the hand. See less
