Beautiful vintage Murano hand blown dark purple (almost black) and light gray with gold flecks Italian art glass flipped edge decorative bowl. Documented to designer Ercole Barovier for the Barovier e Toso company. The design is from an experimental series called "Unici Di Prova" created during 1955 - 1960. The design looks like chain links flowing out of the center of the bowl. It has links with light gray, and another half with dark gray purple. There are 2 indents along the edge, where the curled decoration is. The entire piece is profusely filled with heavy gold leaf. Would make a great display piece on any desk, coffee table or credenza. Use it as a catchall, candy dish, or ashtray. Mid-century era. Thick and heavy piece. Measures 6 1/8” long x 6” wide x 3” tall.

Has some stray bubbles near the surface of the bowl that you can feel with your fingers. They are not popped, just mentioned for accuracy. The polished bottom of the bowl does have a popped bubble on it, and pontil mark, inherent to the making of it. Wear consistent with age. less
