A Desvres Fourmaintraux Art Nouveau faience vase in glossy shades of blue, dark green, and off-white with scattered micro-crystalline accents. The art pottery vase was made at Desvres in France and dates circa 1920s. Very good condition with a couple of glaze pops, measuring 7.5 in. height x 5 in diameter (at widest), marked by hand on base: 8157 / France / 72 over an impressed circular FD / DESVRES mark; also inscribed 511 (or 577) by hand.
The Fourmaintraux Potteries represent a multi-generational family dynasty of earthenware and sandstone art pottery producers working in Desvres, France. As family members began an individual enterprise, company names were often hyphenated to distinguish one workshop/studio from another. Desvres was noted for high quality ceramics and Fourmaintraux pottieries received recognition and awards from the 1889 and 1900 Universal Exhibitions in Paris and in Chicago in 1893. Fourmaintraux-Delassus was awarded the Grand Prix at l’Exposition Internationale des Arts Décoratifs In 1925.5.
