Annapolis or Baltimore, Maryland circa 1760-1770’s

Pierce cut and carved splat with carved crest rail. The shape of the seat rails, and the turned single rear stretcher are traits of Annapolis, Maryland 18th century chairs.

Transitional chair, a Chippendale cut back and carved ears with Queen Anne pad front legs and feet.

A support strip of wood under the rear shoe attached to the interior of the rear frame is cut from yellow pine, points to a southern colonies production. See pictures.

A very fine chair, with nice lines, and good carvings.

Size: 22 1/2" wide, 17" deep, 37 3/4" tall, seat height 17 1/2"


Condition: Refinished. Seat frame is probably not original to the chair, and the glue blocks have been replaced. A patch from an old break out on the crest rail. Minor old patches here and there. See less
