This is one painting from a series inspired by a client commission. The client had requested a connection to Milan, nature, beauty, and renaissance portraiture. There is a reference to Cecilia Gallerani; the favourite mistress of Ludovico Sforza, known as Lodovico il Moro, Duke of Milan.
