Each tall andiron features a richly sculpted architectural form, combining classical figures, intricate scrollwork, and finely detailed ornamental motifs.

The lower section is centered by a prominent lion's head framed by scrolling foliage and decorative garlands, symbolizing strength and nobility. Flanking the central medallion are two finely cast female busts in classical attire, adding a sculptural dimension to the composition. Above, an elongated architectural pedestal is embellished with pierced motifs, delicate floral swags, and scrolling accents. Each andiron is crowned with an ornate urn-shaped finial, completing the symmetrical design.

The elaborate castings reflect the influence of French Baroque and Renaissance Revival decorative traditions, with exceptional attention to detail throughout. The combination of classical female figures, lion masks, and architectural ornamentation gives these substantial fireplace accessories a grand and sophisticated appearance.

The antique chenets are in excellent condition commensurate with age and use, and adorn a rich, warm gilt bronze patina. Perfect for dressing a large fireplace in a living room, library, or formal sitting room. Each andiron weighs 22 pounds.
