Entirely hand-enameled raised decoration. Over glaze Satsuma decoration. Cherry blossoms (sakura). Ume (plum) blossoms. Butterflies. Japanese maple-tree leaves. Hallmarked. Original, cypress wood artisan’s box is included.
Kagoshima Black Satsuma is made of special local clay. Since Kagoshima prefecture has an active volcano, the soil has volcanic ash containing a lot of iron. The outstanding feature of Black Satsuma is a special beauty made by glazing. Satsuma-yaki is a Japanese traditional craft from Kagoshima prefecture.
Each bowl measures 3 1/2 inches in diameter (9 cm). You will receive 10 bowls.
