There is a mark in script on the bottom that I can’t make out. The jar is complete with the lid and the clamp. There is an incised 2 in the manner of Wedgwood on the bottom. There is a neoclassical scene on the outside of the jar which makes it very special with a Greek key design above. This is a very heavy, well made item that has good patina. There are a few chips on the top of the lid that are hard to see and don’t make much difference because the lid is so thick and heavy. This piece feels like jasper ware and the early Wedgwood looked like this piece. There are examples in the V&A Museum. It would make a great gift for a man. See less
