It is a RARE … Read more This is an original cover from a French literary magazine, Figaro Illustré, that dates to 1898. It is a RARE find! Magazine cover art is desirable and highly collectible. It has become increasingly more difficult to find in good condition with the passage of time as it is highly susceptible to tears, stains, folds, discolorations etc. This image is a beauty. It is a 130+ year old chromolithograph that is in pristine condition. It showcases an artist at work at her easel. The image has classical art references. Set in a circular motif, the artist is semi-nude with her robe gathered at her waist. She is busy at work with her brushes and pallet. Note the illustrative details around her. The rich soft color tones creates a warmth and painterly quality. Chromolithography was the printing technique used at the time. Its clarity has not diminished over the years. This chromolithograph is perfect for today's artist. It makes wonderful wall decor in a traditional home or can work with contemporary styling as well. It is 11.75 x 15 inches in size and comes matted in a neutral 16 x 20 inch custom mat which works perfectly in a standard size frame. Please allow time for custom matting.
