A Pair of Mahogany Gothic Chippendale Side Chairs, Mid-Atlantic States, Circa 1780’s
Possibly Baltimore, circa 1770's
Gothic carved splat backs, trapezoid shaped seats. Heavy dense mahogany frames, indicate early production.
The yellow damask upholstery on the seats will need to be replaced.
Size: 21 1/2" wide, 16 3/4" deep, 37 1/2" tall, and 18" seat height.
Condition: old repairs to the splats, some old shrinkage fractures at the knees of the front seat rails/legs. Both chairs appear to retain their original seat glue blocks. Typical use and wear marks from age and use. Seats will need to be reupholstered.
We are listing a very similar pair, but they are not the same chair, slightly different.
