Silver Tetradrachm [coin] with the profile of young Alexander the Great trimmed with 22k gold. This highly detailed face profile also shows a full head of lustrous hair and a pronounced and regal nose. On the reverse side of this coin is the slim form of Zeus holding a septre in one hand and a raptor in the other. This coin was minted at Mesembria, circa 175-150 BC, near the Black Sea Coast in Thrace. The borders of Thrace changed over the course of its existence, extending into present day Bulgaria, Greece, and Turkey.
