Bedroom furniture collections by Kent-Coffey are ubiquitous to what is often perceived as the look-and-feel of mid-century modern furniture. Kent-Coffey Manufacturing Company, a manufacturer of bedroom and occasional furniture was founded in 1907 in Lenoir, North Carolina by Finley Hezekiah Coffey and his friend, Dr. A. Kent. Three of Finley’s four children would go onto to work for the company. Harold F. Coffey, one of the sons, began working for the company as a youngster and later served as the company’s president. It was under Harold’s leadership that the business grew and established itself as a maker of quality and stylishly eye-catching mid-century modern bedroom collections. This fabulous sleek, clean-lined nightstand duo, from the “Escort Collection” made its debut, alongside other modern-looking collections, in the 1960s. Crafted from walnut wood veneer over solid hardwood; legs and apron are solid walnut wood; rich toffee hued stain finish. The design has the look-and-feel of a step table with the bonus of a single English dovetailed drawer with curved shaped pull. Drawer casings and rails are solid wood that glide smoothly. Below each drawer is a cubby for storing books, magazines or displaying your treasures and all of life's small pleasures. The pair offers an exceptional combination of quality and design and measure as follows:

Weight: Together the pair weighs 70lbs.

The Kent Coffey makers stamp is on an inside panel of each drawer; model/style numbers are stamped on the backsides. Structurally sound and in excellent condition with age-appropriate wear to the top of one nightstand in the form of a couple of surface spots within the grain (see photo 8) and what I would call condensation spots or heat marks to the front right lower corner (see photos 8 & 9) which does not affect its beauty or utility. These beauties are ready to make a major statement in their new home!
