LARGE 2 GALLON SIZE … Read more This is a Great Looking and Quite Unusual Antique Early American Salt Glaze Stoneware Utility Pitcher. LARGE 2 GALLON SIZE - Approx 12 Inches Tall. Circa Late 19th Century. The Front is Embossed with Blue Decorated Highlights - "BANGOR STONE WARE CO. BANGOR MAINE". Records Indicate that This Company Started Business in 1880. It is Also Embossed with the Number "2" Confirming its 2 Gallon Liquid Storage Capacity. Back in the Day These Types of Stoneware Items were a Necessity in Most of Americas Farms and Household's and They were Made - Intended For Everyday Utilitarian Use. These Types of American Stoneware Items we Completely Hand Made out of Indigenous Clay on a Potters Wheel from Start to Finish and Therefore No 2 are Absolutely Identical. It is in Very Good Overall, Structurally Strong - Sound & Usable Condition. Displays Beautifully. No Chips - No Repairs. Minor Imperfection Noted - There is a Very Old & Faint Closed End Hairline Crack at he Top Rim - Left Side Area.
