The putti-cherub functions not only as an aesthetic piece of sculpture, but also functions like an ancient Greek caryatid did as it supports an object above its head and in this case, it is a bowel. That bowel can function at the owners' whims. It can hold plants, Christmas balls or can be left empty. The sculpture can find its home in many rooms. In our last home, it was in a bathroom sitting on a corner of a tub. Currently, it sits on a tall table on a covered porch.
To emphasize the putti's visual attention, we commissioned a woodworker to create a wooden stand that would elevate the statue's height. The result was perfect and over the years that we have owned the statue, it has solicited many beautiful compliments from our guests.
We took the sculpture apart to prevent any damage in shipping. We will place a diagram to make it clear that it comes in four parts: the wooden stand, the ceramic stand, the body of the cherub, and the bowl. There is a thin pipe that holds all the parts together. We will place a diagram with the statue to make assembly simple. See less
