When the communist party took over the rule of China soon after the end of WWII in 1949, the craftsmen of China were busy at work creating art objects to be sold for foreign cash. These were experienced craftsmen who had been at work in the 1920's and 30's and had the know how to make beautiful objects. I believe the three pieces of well crafted glass snuff bottles are from this period. The most attractive is the rust color glass cucumber form. It has the rough texture of the skin of the pickle cucumbers, and the bottle end is as it exists in nature. The stopper acts as the pickle top. The most beautiful in color is the pink glass pumkin with the two tiny hanging leaves. The most artistic is the lime green double gourd with the black twirling lines. All the stoppers are made of glass to match the bottles and they fit snugly with the cork core.
The pickle cucumber is 4 inches x 1 inch x 1 inch high
The pink pumpkin is 1.75 inches x 1.75 inches x 2 inches high
The green double gourd is 1.25 inches x 1 inch x 2.25 inches high
