Wonderful copper plate engraving showing variety of shells. Engraving is Plate XXVIII and was engraving by William Home Lizar(1788-1859)
William Home Lizar, a Scottish painter and engraver and from a family of engravers. Lizar’s Sister Jane married Sir William Jardine, a famous English naturalist. The Lizar family were active in the foundation of The Royal Scottish Academy.
Engraving in excellent condition, displayed in handmade gilt gold bevel and cream archival matting in black frame and under glass.
