Hand painted in the traditional Breton style, the decorative ceramic platter features a beautifully scalloped and molded border, enhanced with scrolling contours, pierced handles, and vibrant polychrome decoration.

The central composition depicts a Breton mother wearing traditional regional attire, including a distinctive white lace headdress, standing outdoors with her two young children. Dressed in colorful period costumes, the three figures are surrounded by a charming countryside landscape with trees and greenery. The scene is rendered in rich shades of cobalt blue, rose pink, yellow, and green, reflecting the lively folk-art character associated with Quimper pottery.

The elaborate border is embellished with delicate floral sprays, stylized foliage, and colorful scrolling motifs in blue, yellow, green, and pink. The softly fluted edges and openwork handles give the platter an especially decorative silhouette, making it equally attractive displayed on a wall or resting on a plate stand.

Quimper pottery has been produced in Brittany since the late 17th century. The HB manufactory traces its origins to Jean-Baptiste Bousquet, whose pottery was established in 1690.
