Offered is a hand inlaid round platter from iconic Mid 20th Century company Couroc of Monterey. Known for their whimsical designs and artisanal inlays, no two pieces are identical. This tray features a fish shack done in wood inlay and a ladder and "sign" in brass, the sign reads "Fresh Fish". The Couroc founders began their company in 1948 after stints at Walt Disney and working as contractors during World War 2 creating strong resins and plastics for the war effort. Post war, they dedicated their efforts to combining their artistic whims and inventions into home and gift wares. Their proprietary invention, phenolic resin, was branded as "alcohol and burn resistant".
