Perhaps in this case, the decorations on the bottle are so Chinese oriented that it might be for the domestic market as well. The craftsmanship of this bottle is finely executed from the stopper, the opening and neck to the nicely finished raised oval foot. The repousse work on the flowers and leaves of the peonies, as well the five petal flowers are well done. The peonies are recognized as the queen of flowers in China and represent beauty and wealth. The meanng of such symbolism might be more in tune with a Chinese audience. The yellow brown nephrite jade is thinly carved and has interesting mottling of rust and light brown lines and patches.
