- A Fine Embossed And Polychromed Leather Tobacco pouch(tobako-ire)With Large Silver Clasp (kanemono) Depicting Intricate Flowers In Relief.This Piece Dates From … moreA Fine Embossed And Polychromed Leather Tobacco pouch(tobako-ire)With Large Silver Clasp (kanemono) Depicting Intricate Flowers In Relief.This Piece Dates From The Late 19th Century.The 10 Strand Silvered Chain is Held Together By A Ojime-Type Fitting and is Attached to A Large Kagamibuba (Mirror Lid) Netsuke with a Gilded Silver Top Worked with A Dragon Relief within an Ivory Colored Manju Made Of Celluloid with Slight Cracking.The Front of The Embossed Leather Pouch is Decorated with a Writhing Dragon.The Interior Has two Pockets: One Large Pocket and a Smaller Hidden One Secured By a Bone Clip.This Beautifully Crafted and Nicely Aged Pouch is a Prime Example of a Sagemono or Hanging Object. Sagemono were an Essential Fashion and Skilled Craftsmen Collaborated to Produce Costly Tobacco Pouches with Clasps Made By The Most Skilled Metal Artists.This Pouch Is in Very Good Vintage Condition Considering Its Age.The Chain Height is 4 1/2 " Long and The Diameter of The Netsuke is 2". less
