These lithographs are from the 'Colección de 12 Suertes de Toros,' designed and lithographed by Luis Ferrant. This series was first published in 1835 and the measurements of these two lithographs are consistent with those of the first edition. Luis Ferrant y Llausá (1806-1868) was a 19th-century Spanish painter born in Barcelona, a student, teacher and academic at the Real Academia de San Fernando in Madrid, and chamber painter to Queen Isabel II of Spain, among other honors. He painted the Spanish Royal Family and earned high regard from artists of his time. Luis Ferrant's work is in the collection of the Museo del Prado and has been offered at major international houses such as Christie's.
