The Classic American Salt Glaze Exterior is Artistically Hand Decorated with a Wonderful Cobalt - Navy Blue Stylized Double Flower Design. It Has No Maker Mark. Origin Possibly Maryland & Pennsylvania ?. It Also has a Number 1 Denoting its 1 Gallon Liquid Storage Capacity. These Desirable Smaller Size Jugs were Commonly Used to Store a Variety of Liquids - Spirits - Liquor - Ciders - Vinegar - Spring Water Etc. Back in the Day These Types of Stoneware Items were a Necessity in Most Of Americas Farms and Household's and They were Made For Everyday - Utilitarian Use. It is in Excellent Original Condition with No Damage - No Cracks - No Repairs - Displays Beautifully. It has a Surface Chip - "Stone Ping" - at the Lower Back Side that Upon Examination is Glazed Over Confirming that it Occurred in the Making - Kiln Firing Process.
