It is very nice in that the center piece of the grate, the middle piece and the outside piece of the grate open and close independently to create different designs and let various amounts of air through the holes.

The pictures show the sections in different amounts of being open as they slide around the circle. This grate is marked on the front - South Milwaukee Wis. Designed Patented. The finish is almost a grey / brown and is mostly in tact.

This item would be from the late 1890's and is substantial and weight is just over 9 lbs. The outside diameter is 15 7/8 inches. The inside rim is 13 3/8.

The design on the iron is floral with Celtic knots through out the design. This was displayed hanging on a wall when last owned as there were wires holding all the pieces together.

Majority of my items for sale are pre-loved treasures that were most likely purchased at a local Estate Sale or a local resale shop in Arizona. I may or may not know details but do spend time researching information to provide details the best I can and to pass along fair prices.
