Chinese Famille Rose Porcelain Enamel Vase Mid 20th Century.
Porcelain in molded peach form, with vibrant peach and leaf decoration.
Famille rose is a type of Chinese porcelain that originated in the 18th century and is characterized by its opaque overglaze rose decorations, primarily in shades of pink and carmine. The term "famille rose" is French for "pink family", and was coined by Albert Jacquemart in 1862 to classify Qing dynasty porcelain by the dominant color of its enamel palette. The colors used in famille rose were originally introduced from Europe around 1685 and were known to the Chinese as yangcai, which means "foreign colors". A beautiful pair.
