The motif is an owl on both ends with Art Nouveau pine cones around. When fully closed, it measures 7 1/2" on the inside and when fully expanded, 14". These were made by the Judd Company, founded in the 1860s on the east coast. The number 9776 is stamped on the inside; assuming this is the design number. If you like owls or books this is a must have! See less
