This hand carved and quite heavy wooden storage container from the early 20th C. has a beautiful patina and extraordinary visible woodgrain to demonstrate its age. Some cracks in the wood seem significant, however we feel that this substantial mortar vessel is still in very sturdy condition. This authentic vessel is not a reproduction or created for tourists, and was indeed used as a mortar. The vessel is hollow inside and was hand turned with a lathe from a single block of wood.

Clean lines make this vessel extremely versatile to complement almost any decor; from modern, to boho, to traditional. It could look stunning with dried flowers as a table centerpiece! See less
