These are both significant as design elements as well as for its added structural engineering accomplishment. They ensure that this bookcase is extra sturdy. There are three sturdy glass shelves with this unit. The top shelf was removed by the original owner to allow for large display item to be showcased. The front bar shelf support was removed but is included with the sale for the new buyer to either continue using as is or to be able to add a glass panel to have a 4th shelf as originally designed.

The unit is stained in a dark espresso and has a semi gloss lacquer finish. See less
