A very interesting and unusual early treenware bowl
Hand carved oval shaped small trencher with wide border
Lathe turned and hand shaped hardwood (solid and heavy), possibly oak
The base has not been flattened for standing, it is convex, but it stands well on it
Beautiful weathered patina
Circa early 1800's, likely American, found in New England
All original
Measurements: Approximately 15.5" x 7" x 3", inside is 9" x 5.5"
It weighs 1 lb. 15 oz.
Condition: Very Good overall. Please see photos. Minor unobtrusive cracks at the edge, due to natural split of the wood, consistent with age and use. All original.
