The presented … Read more This elegant Scandinavian mid-century modern swivel armchair was designed by Johannes Andersen and produced in Sweden by Trensum. The presented piece is the FENIX model, dating from the 1950s, and is considered the direct formal predecessor of Andersen’s later and better-known CAPRI model from the 1960s. While the overall silhouette is closely related, the Fenix is slightly smaller in scale and characterized by softer, more organic lines, whereas the Capri reflects the sharper, more defined design language of the 1960s.
The armchair has been professionally restored. The original, deteriorated padding has been replaced with new foam, and the chair has been fully reupholstered, carefully preserving its original proportions and design intent. The swivel mechanism functions smoothly and reliably, providing excellent comfort and usability.
The chair stands on a silk-black metal base, offering a refined contrast to the upholstered body and reinforcing its modern character. One rubber foot cap is missing, which can be easily replaced and does not materially affect stability or use.
